Materials and Structures

The right wine box starts with the right materials. We use greyboard and specialty facing papers that hold shape, protect the bottle, and take print well. Below are the materials, structures and inserts we work with every day.

Our Board Standard

Greyboard at 1200 g minimum, with 1400 g recommended for spirits. Facing paper is 157 g specialty or coated stock. No recycled greyboard, no high-moisture paper. This keeps boxes rigid through shipping, stacking and repeated opening.

Six common materials

Greyboard with Specialty Paper

The standard base for rigid wine boxes, wrapped with printed specialty paper for a smooth, premium finish.

Kraft Paper

Used for eco-friendly and shipping boxes where a natural, uncoated look is wanted.

White Card

A clean, bright facing paper for gift boxes and boxes with light or pastel printing.

Gold/Silver Cardboard

Metallic facing paper for premium gift boxes that need a reflective, high-end surface.

Flocked Paper

Soft-touch facing paper often used inside boxes or on inserts to cushion and present the bottle.

Leather-Textured Paper

A paper facing that mimics leather grain, used for leather-look boxes without the cost of real leather.

Six box structures

Rigid Lid-and-Base

A two-piece box with a separate lid and base, the most common structure for premium wine gift boxes.

Magnetic Closure

A lid-and-base box with magnets in the flap for a secure, satisfying close.

Drawer

A sliding tray that pulls out from a sleeve, often used for single-bottle presentation boxes.

Foldable

A flat-shipping box that erects into a rigid shape, with creases that must not crack and corners at 90 degrees.

Double-Door

A box with two front panels that open outward, commonly used for two-bottle sets.

With Handles

Any structure fitted with a handle, typically for larger or heavier multi-bottle boxes.

Four insert types

Velvet Tray

A soft, flocked tray that holds the bottle at four points and gives a premium unboxing feel.

EVA Foam

Dense foam cut to the bottle profile, providing tight support and shock absorption.

Blister

A clear plastic shell that shows the bottle while holding it firmly in place.

Paper Mould

Moulded pulp shaped to the bottle, a recyclable option that still holds at four points.
